The second instructional section provides several strategies to insulate the electric contact to the probe and discusses the advantages of each. The practical section is concluded with a chapter on troubleshooting – an invaluable resource for getting the setup to work. The paper concludes with several relevant references for further reading.

Insulated conductive probes for combined AFM and ElectroChemical studies (EC-Probes) are available from NANOSESNORS.
